The Black Cats have been on a positive run of form in recent outings, and picked up a comfortable 3-0 win over Burton Albion at the weekend.

For their part, Fleetwood took a point from their 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic on Saturday, but go into this one 16th in the table, 11 points below their hosts.

With that in mind, Johnson has named a largely unchanged lineup from the one that beat Burton at the Pirelli Stadium, with the only change coming on the left-hand side. Callum McFadzean replaces Jake Vokins on the flank.

Rangers loanee Jordan Jones starts on the bench again, much to the disappointment of some fans.
