Head coach Alex Neil has previously said he still wants around four additions, and those deals could lead to some outgoing movement as well.
Neil expects some deals to go right to the wire, but is confident of one or two breakthroughs before next Wednesday.
We run you through the deals that could still happen here...

5. A LEAGUE ONE LOAN FOR JACK DIAMOND
Sunderland have a difficult decision to make on Diamond, whose game time could clearly be squeezed by the arrival of Jewison Bennette (more on that later). Neil rates Diamond, and bringing him on as Sunderland chased the game against Sheffield United was an indication of that. But Diamond needs minutes to develop and there a host of good sides in League One who would love to have him. If Neil gets the addition he needs, this might be the best medium-term option for all parties. Photo: Isaac Parkin

6. OR FOR LEON DAJAKU....
Sunderland will need to keep one of Diamond or Dajaku, you would think, to ensure Neil has enough cover and energy in the wide areas for what is a punishing schedule. Dajaku has been unlucky with a minor but recurring groin injury so far this season, which has prevented him from pushing for regular game time. Photo: FRANK REID PHOTOGRAPHER 2022

7. JEWISON BENNETTE
A deal to bring Bennette to the club is advanced, with the Costa Rican winger travelling to the UK earlier this week to put the finishing touches to his move. "Very happy, excited about this new opportunity, I hope to do things well and do my best to move forward," Bennette told reporters before getting on the plane. The 18-year-old will clearly need time and patience to adjust to such a significant move, but he has ambitions of featuring at the World Cup this winter and so will be eager to make an impact. It's a step to the unknown for all parties but Benette is a hugely gifted player and so it's an exciting prospect for player and club. 8. A new striker
While Bennette can play through the middle he is primarily a wide player and so his arrival is unlikely to alter Alex Neil's view that he still needs more cover and competition up front. Ellis Simms and Ross Stewart have been superb this season but Neil wants to ensure an injury to either wouldn't affect his side too much, and he also remains keen to ensure he has variety and quality on his bench to change games late on. Not landing Nathan Broadhead was a blow and so an area still to be addressed. Neil says it's 'inevitable' in some positions the search will go right to the wire on deadline day, and given the demand for strikers in the second tier it would be no great surprise if this was one such case.
