The revealing number of minutes EVERY Sunderland first-teamer has played over 12 months: photo gallery

Sunderland have a fairly small squad with a pretty low average age.

Alex Pritchard, Corry Evans, Danny Batth and Bailey Wright are the Black Cats’ most experienced professional first-team players as the club has opted for youth recently, bringing in the likes of Edouard Michut, Amad Diallo, Abdoullah Ba and Jewison Bennette.

Indeed, there have been calls from fans to head coach Tony Mowbray to give more responsibility to Sunderland’s young and exciting prospects. With that in mind, though it is interesting to look at how many minutes each member of the squad has played over the course of the past calendar year.

Some of the results may surprise you and go some way to explaining why Mowbray hasn’t thrown the youngsters in completely off at the deep end in terms of starting games.

Note that the data provided by Wyscout includes minutes played for all club sides (not specifically Sunderland) over the past 12 months and does not include former players or players who have departed on loan.
