Phil Parkinson has made no secret of his desire to see the player move on and, while currently injured, the winger is set to train with the under-23 side when he's back in action.
But what comes next? An exit, a move overseas or something else? We take a look at nine of the options that could be open to McGeady:
1. The MLS
America was mentioned as a potential destination for McGeady back in January and, with clubs always on the lookout for high-profile international players, he could be seen as a viable option for some sides in the MLS. Photo: Dominik Bindl
2. India
There's been a number of players head to India in recent months - most notably Steven Taylor and Adam Le Fondre - with clubs starting to offer some major financial packages. McGeady fits the bill in terms of the type of players clubs in the Indian Super League are looking to recruit, but whether the move appeals to him remains to be seen. Photo: MANJUNATH KIRAN
3. A return to Scotland?
McGeady had a successful spell at Celtic and was linked with a return to the Scottish top flight with Hibernian in January. A return to the SPFL could well appeal if there were any willing takers. Photo: Mark Runnacles
4. Another switch to Charlton Athletic
McGeady's loan move to Charlton in January didn't quite go as planned but, with the Addicks desperate to add some depth to their squad, could they yet return for the winger? Photo: Pool
