The Leeds United left-back has a recall clause in the deal that saw him arrive on deadline day earlier this season.

He has gone on to make ten appearances, and though Phil Parkinson has praised his quality and attitude when he has featured under his management, Denver Hume has established himself firmly as the new manager’s primary option in that position.

Parkinson is expecting the loan to be reviewed by Leeds, the player and Sunderland after the new year’s day fixtures, and would likely be forced to consider finding a replacement should he depart.

A similar situation last season saw Jerome Sinclair cut short his season-long loan from Watford.

Marc McNulty, however, will stay for the remainder of the campaign.

He has largely been a fringe player under Parkinson but has scored five goals since arriving.
