While Premier League clubs scramble to try and strengthen their squad’s before the deadline tonight, the Black Cats know they have until October 16th to make their final additions.
So while supporters wait for those deals to emerge, we’ve taken a trip down memory lane to recall Sunderland’s lively history with one of the most discussed days of the football calendar, ranking each one from the last ten years, from worse to best...
9. JANUARY 2013- DANNY GRAHAM
A £5 million move from Swansea City preceded a challenging period for both Graham and Sunderland, with the striker loaned out after struggling to make an impression.
Graham did go on to play a role as Dick Advocaat's side managed to beat the drop two years later, finally scoring his first goal against Everton.

10. JANUARY 2019 - LEWIS MORGAN & KAZAIAH STERLING
Morgan came with a formidable reputation, the star player in the St Mirren side that had forged Jack Ross' reputation.
He never quite hit those heights, but he was still a valuable squad option and that pace was missed in the following season.
His spell is now more likely to be remembered for an explosive interview over a year after his departure.
Sterling was brought in as part of the club's attempts to replace Josh Maja, but his place in the team was threatened within hours when Stewart Donald opted to sign Will Grigg.
Neither was able to produce consistently, and Grigg's search for regular minutes and goals continues as Parkinson's side struggle to maximise his potential. Photo: Charlie Crowhurst
11. SUMMER 2015 - FABIO BORINI and DeANDRE YEDLIN
Poyet had pushed hard to try and sign Borini a year previous, but the striker had resisted as he bid to force his way into the picture at Liverpool.
A year later he finally signed, but Poyet had departed and the Italian striker was never able to hit the heights of his brilliant loan spell.
In fairness, the inside forward did play his part in the escape under Sam Allardyce, forming an effective front three with Jermain Defoe and Wahbi Khazri.
The following season was a frustrating one, Borini unable to nail down a regular spot under David Moyes.

12. SUMMER 2018 - MAX POWER
Power arrived initially on loan, as part of an unusual deadline day in which the window for temporary additions was left open past the point at which permanent signings could no longer be made.
The midfielder got through a difficult start in which he saw three red cards (one of which was rescinded) to become a mainstay of the side.
He has produced consistently since Phil Parkinson's arrival and was a very worthy choice of team captain for the season ahead.
A hamstring injury has just checked his progress but he will be a vital player on and off the pitch this season, seemingly enjoying a new and more advanced role in the side. Photo: FRANK REID 2019
