The Robins welcome Phil Parkinson’s side to The County Ground on Saturday having been hit with a number of injury concerns in recent weeks.

And the news doesn’t get any better for manager Richie Wellens who will now have to do without Pitman – leaving Swindon with just one recognised striker available for the weekend’s game.

Wellens was keen to add to his squad, but now admits that is an unlikely prospect – having brutally admitted he is ‘sick’ of discussing potential incomings.

“We’re not speaking to anyone at the moment, so I probably wouldn’t expect anyone to come in before Saturday,” he said, speaking to the Swindon Advertiser.

“We can get a free agent after Saturday, but they need to be paid up by their parent club.

“It’s only a short window until January, but there’s 18 games or so in that time.

“We’ve got a big enough squad to cope, defensively. Defensively, we’re ok, but in midfield I think we’re short.

“And now Brett Pitman has pulled his groin and he’s out for a month. Now we’re short on out-and-out strikers as well.

“I don’t really know what you want me to say anymore – I’m sick of talking about transfers to be honest,” he continued.

“You can speculate all you want, but if you haven’t got the money, you can’t sign anyone.”
