Abdoullah Ba scored the only goal of the game in the 15th minute with a low effort which beat goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
Sunderland then defended excellently in the second half to end a run of three consecutive defeats.

Scored a superb goal and was a great call by Mowbray to push him right up in support of Gelhardt. Had a lot of good moments, albeit still lacks some strength at times. 8 Photo: Frank Reid

Missed a massive chance to put Sunderland two goals ahead - all the more frustrating because he’d played a big part in the first goal and produced comfortably his best performance yet.
