Sunderland's rivals claim completing the League One season could be 'dangerous' as EFL near key decision

The EFL remain keen to complete the current season once it is safe to do so, and are putting plans in place to play all remaining fixtures in front of empty stadiums.
Those plans received backing from the government earlier this week, and could be brought closer to fruition should lockdown rules be relaxed this weekend.

Hide AdBut while the governing bodies are moving towards a return, Curtis admits that many in the third tier are ‘worried’ about taking to the field.
“As footballers, we are worried about this,” he said, speaking to the Portsmouth News.
“Look at how many people have died, it’s your health, it's dangerous.
“Of course you should be cautious. Obviously we want it to go away and that can take time, you have to wait.

Hide Ad“We would love to be back playing, but there’s different stuff going about.
“Don’t forget you are still on the pitch with 11 different people, you are going to come across them, put your hands on them. It is dangerous, this virus is in the air and you can catch it.”
Sunderland and their League One rivals are currently waiting for the EFL to announce their next move, with Rick Parry saying claiming that a decision would have to be made ‘within days’ when he spoke on Tuesday.
But while Curtis feels that the season ‘needs’ to be completed from a sporting perspective, he is struggling to see how it could be completed under the current climate.

“What about the Premier League? There are people in relegation battles, people in promotion battles, it’s hard. God knows what is going to happen,
“We just have to wait for others to come up with a plan.”
