Sunderland's opening Premier League attendance compared to Newcastle, Liverpool and more
A big crowd was on hand to watch Sunderland see off Fulham at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Sunderland kicked off their home fixtures for one of the most exciting seasons in the club’s history with a narrow victory against Premier League rivals Fulham.
The Stadium of Light was packed out once again as a second-half goal from substitute Wilson Isidor made the difference and ensured Regis Le Bris’ side moved on from their opening day defeat at the hands of newly-promoted Ipswich Town. The Wearside faithful got right behind their side once again and helped the Black Cats see off some late pressure from the visitors to claim their first three points of the season.

A visit to Brentford is next on the agenda before Sunderland return to the Stadium of Light for a home double header against Hull City and Arsenal before European football comes to Wearside for the first time since 1973 as the Black Cats kick off their Europa League campaign with a home tie against Eredivisie outfit AZ Alkmaar.
But how did Sunderland’s home attendance in their first home game of the season compare to their Premier League rivals?
