Charlie Wyke and Aiden McGeady both missed out against Plymouth Argyle as Sunderland manage the pair's minor injury issues.

McGeady has been suffering with swelling to the foot of late and also has a broken nose, while Wyke, who has not missed a league game in 2021, is managing a thigh issue.

Sunderland were handed a boost ahead of the game against Argyle, with Conor McLaughlin returning to the starting XI after making an unexpectedly swift recovery from a hernia operation.

However, the defender was substituted at half-time during the win.
