Sunderland Under-23 coach breaks his leg in staff football game at Academy of Light
Sunderland Under-23 coach Elliott Dickman is recovering after breaking his leg during a game involving backroom staff at the Academy of Light.
Dickman suffered the injury during an accidental collision with a staff member during the game at the club's training base on Friday.
The Under-23 coach is now recovering.
It is understood the club's new owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus - who has been hands on since taking charge and is often at the Academy of Light - and head coach
Lee Johnson also played in the staff game.
Sunderland's Under-23s only have four remaining Premier League 2 games this season, two this month - including a trip to Norwich City on Friday - and two next month.
It is not yet clear whether Dickman will take charge of the Norwich game.
Earlier this week, Sunderland U23s fell to defeat after three second-half goals from West Brom.
Chris Maguire played 75 minutes as he looked to maintain match fitness, and pressed his senior claims.
