Sunderland have made four new signings this summer - while some players could leave the club before the end of the transfer window.
The Black Cats have already allowed Bailey Wright and Leon Dajaku to move on since the end of last season, following a lack of first-team opportunities during the 2022/23 campaign.
There may also be others who opt to leave Wearside in search of more regular first-team football (either permanently or on loan), while some of Sunderland’s players have attracted interest from Premier League clubs.
Here are some members of the squad who could leave this summer and other who we think are likely to stay despite recent reports:

5. Alex Bass - Could leave
Bass only made two senior appearances in cup competitions for Sunderland last season and clubs have been tracking his situation. Reports from London have claimed AFC Wimbledon are interested in the 25-year-old stopper. Sunderland would probably have to sign a replacement if Bass was allowed to leave. Photo: Frank Reid

6. Dan Neil - Likely to stay
Another Black Cats academy graduate who has been on the radars of some top-flight clubs. Neil showed his faith in Sunderland by signing a contract extension in March, though, agreeing a deal which will run until 2026. Photo: Martin Swinney

7. Joe Anderson - Could leave
Mowbray admitted at the end of last season that Anderson may have to leave on loan to gain more regular first-team football. The arrivals of Nectarios Triantis and Jenson Seelt this summer has only increased Sunderland’s competition at centre-back. Photo: Jeremy Ng

8. Dennis Cirkin - Likely to stay
It was reported at the end of last year that Brentford were interested in the 21-year-old full-back, while former club Tottenham had a buy-back option. Cirkin would have been heading into the final year of his Sunderland contract this summer but signed a new deal until 2026 last month. Photo: Frank Reid
