This is what to expect from Sunderland on transfer deadline day with multiple deals in play

It looks set to be a very busy end to the transfer window for Sunderland

It looks set to be a busy deadline day on Wearside, with Florent Ghisolfi working to conclude a number of deals before tonight's 11pm deadline.

Here, we bring you up to speed with all the latest and preview what you can expect over the course of the day...

Incomings

Sunderland have made significant progress on an initial loan deal to sign Kevin Danso, and at this stage it would be a surprise if the transfer did not conclude. With his game time set to be limited this season, Danso told Roberto De Zerbi that he wanted to leave the club and only hurdle was that Spurs understandably wanted a replacement in first. With a deal now provisionally agreed for Tosin Adarabioyo, the signs are very encouraging for Sunderland. Danso is very well known to Florent Ghisolfi, who signed him at RC Lens and tried to also take him to AS Roma. He will complete Sunderland's defensive options for the campaign ahead, and add very valuable top-level experience.

The big question for Sunderland fans is who else they can recruit before the deadline and specifically in forward areas. Another winger has been a major priority throughout the summer, but it has proved a very difficult market. The club made progress on an ambitious deal to sign Marseille forward Igor Paixao, but as it stands the Ligue 1 club have said they don't want to lose any more players. A U-turn before the deadline is certainly not impossible, but Sunderland are clearly having to move on other targets. Lyon winger Malick Fofana was one of those, but Arsenal have made a surprise late move and so are clearly favourites at this stage.

Ideally Sunderland would also bring in another versatile forward given Eliezer Mayenda's departure earlier this summer, but it remains to be seen whether they can do so. It looks set to be a dramatic day with plenty of twists and turns.

Outgoings

A number of done deals are expected on deadline day as Ghisolfi looks to trim the wage bill and find playing opportunities for those in need of regular game time.

Luis Hemir has interest from Ligue 2 club Clermont Foot, while Turkish side Sivasspor are showing an interest in Abdoullah Ba. Another player who seems highly likely to be on the move is Alan Browne, though at this stage no club has been able to produce an offer acceptable to Sunderland. Browne has strong interest from former club Preston North End and has had interest from other Championship clubs over the course of the summer, so a resolution ahead of the deadline is still very much on the cards.

Simon Adingra also looks set to be on the move, with a loan deal agreed with Ajax. Adingra is quite close to a return to fitness after an ankle injury, and Sunderland are hopeful that the move will allow him to play regularly and build some confidence and form.

Could there be more deals beyond these? You can never rule it out - Sunderland tend to be pretty busy in deadline day.
