Sunderland 'Til I Die: This is when season two of the Netflix series will be released

Pearlman, who helps lead the production company behind the popular documentary, revealed on BBC Radio 4’s ‘The Media Show’ that the second series is set to hit worldwide streaming service Netflix in ‘four to six weeks’.

That suggests that ‘Sunderland ‘Til I Die’ is set to return to the small screen by the middle of March.

The impact of the first series of the documentary has been well-documented, drawing the attention of several financiers with an apparent interest in investing in the club.

But Pearlman insists that was never Fulwell73’s intention, claiming the production company had no agenda.

“I would argue that in comparison – and with no disrespect to the Manchester City one, or the Formula 1 series that was made – some of them are made for brand promotion and an insider group of fans,” he said.

“Others are made to tell a real story.

“I would say that the Sunderland series was about a city, a place and a time.

“It’s about people and by taking that approach, we didn’t care if the club had invited us in or not.

“We didn’t have an agenda and we certainly weren’t trying to promote or sell the club.

“What we were trying to do is say this is a unique place, the people are unique and are key to this story.

“I think the Manchester City one is a promotional piece - and that’s fine as well, but it’s very different.”

The first series was well received, giving insight to the inner workings of the club.
