Sunderland suffer another defensive injury blow in Papa John's Trophy final against Tranmere Rovers
Sunderland have suffered another defensive injury blow, with Tom Flanagan subbed after picking up a knock in the Papa John’s Trophy final.
Flanagan needed to come off with a couple of minutes to go before half-time. The centre-back was getting treatment to his left leg, it appeared to be his calf.
Conor McLaughlin was quickly stripped and readied to come on for Flanagan.
Sunderland started well but Tranmere pegged them back and the game was goalless at the break.
