The Black Cats sealed their spot in the third round with a 2-1 victory over Oldham Athletic on Tuesday evening – with goals from Chris Maguire and Josh Scowen sealing a come-from-behind win.

And they will now welcome the Valiants to the Stadium of Light early next year in the next stage of the competition.

Sunderland are three victories away from a return to Wembley, having also reached the final of this competition in 2019.

Ties will be played on the week commencing January 11, 2021 – with winning clubs set to pocket £40,000.

Sunderland have already earned £60,000 from this season’s competition, with £20,000 of that sum coming after their win at Boundary Park in midweek.
