Sunderland prepared to offer 'big wages' to land in-demand striker wanted by Bristol City and Luton Town - reports
Sunderland are prepared to offer ‘big wages’ in a bid to lure Joe Pigott to Wearside – according to reports.
Pigott is a man in demand this summer having left AFC Wimbledon following the expiration of his contract.
The striker netted 54 goals in 157 games during his time with the Dons and has frequently been linked with a move up the pyramid during his time in London.
And now a free agent, the 27-year-old is drawing admiring glances from both the Championship and League One.
The Portsmouth News report that Pompey were keen on making a move for Pigott, but are bracing themselves for disappointment.
They go on to add that the striker has held talks with Bristol City and Luton Town in recent days – while claiming that Sunderland would be prepared to offer ‘big wages’ to sign the striker.
That, the report claims, could put the Black Cats ‘in the box seat’ if the striker is to remain in League One.
