Sunderland resumed their Premier League campaign against Bournemouth on Saturday lunchtime.
The Black Cats took a deserved early lead through Eliezer Mayenda, but a second-half strike from Evanilson ensured the hosts a share of the spoils. Here’s how we rated all the Black Cats involved on the day.
1. GK - Robin Roefs
Had an excellent game, making some really good stops and dealing with a barrage of set pieces. One error was punished ruthlessly, not getting to the cross that was converted by Evanilson for the equaliser. 6 | AFP via Getty Images
2. RB - Lutsharel Geertruida
Had a solid game in his preferred position. Looked after the ball well and defended strongly, just not quite quick enough to stop the cross from Tavernier for the equaliser. Justified his inclusion, though. 6 | Getty Images
3. CB - Dan Ballard
Had yet another terrific game. Good on the ball, playing a part in the opening goal. Defended well from start to finish and made some crucial interventions. A top defender. 8 | Getty Images
4. CB - Omar Alderete
His best Sunderland game in a while. Made some big headed clearances and competed very well, just not quite able to get high enough to stop Evanilson scoring in the second half. Still a strong display. 7 | Chris Fryatt
