Sunderland lost 5-3 to Man City on Sunday afternoon in a remarkable game at the Etihad Stadium.
Brian Brobbey scored a hat trick and the Black Cats created a glut of chances, but defensive lapses and some brilliant Man City finishing cost them dearly. Here’s how we rated all of the Black Cats involved on the day...
1. GK - Robin Roefs
Caught too far across his goal line for the opening goal as Enzo whipped a free kick in at the near post. Not too much he could have done for the others. 5 | Getty Images
2. RB - Nordi Mukiele
Had a good first half and largely limited Semenyo. A little off his best in the second and gave the ball away at times but finished strongly. 6 | Getty Images
3. CB - Dan Ballard
Seems strange to say he had a good game when Sunderland shipped five but he did. Jumped in once or twice and lost out but generally had a good game against Haaland and was powerful in his defending. 7 | Getty Images

4. CB - Kevin Danso
Did a lot of good work defensively but it was a poor pass out of his box for City’s second goal. Unlucky in the second when his clearance hit Mukiele and ran for Semenyo to score. 5 | Chris Fryatt
