Sunderland secured their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 1-0 win over Hull City at the Stadium of Light.
Chemsdine Talbi’s stunning goal in the second half proved the difference, on a night when Regis Le Bris made 11 changes and handed out two full debuts. Here’s how we rated all of the Black Cats involved on the night...
9. CAM - Chemsdine Talbi
The star of the show. Drew one good save from Phillips in the first half and scored a stunner in the second. A constant threat breaking beyond the back four from a second striker position. Looked really motivated despite the transfer talk. 8 | Getty Images
10. LW - Malick Fofana
Had a quiet first half but grew in confidence and showed some really good touches and a turn of pace in the second. Very useful 78 minutes under his belt. 6 | Malick Fofana. Photo by Sunderland AFC.
11. ST - Wilson Isidor
Didn’t get much sight of goal but his movement and one-touch passing was at times good. Put in a really decent shift given he was visibly struggling with illness in the first half. 6
12. Sub - Thomas Meunier
A solid cameo. Had a big part in Talbi’s goal and was typically dependable otherwise. 7 | Getty Images
