Sunderland were beaten 3-1 by Coventry City and remain rooted bottom of the Premier League table.
Here’s how we rated all of the Black Cats involved on the day...
5. LB - Reinildo
Caught out a little bit for the first goal but generally quite steady compared to some of his team mates. One of a few just not quite at last season’s level. 5 | Sunderland Echo, Chris Fryatt
6. CM - Granit Xhaka
Where has last season’s captain and talisman gone? Remains a threat with his passing forward but looks so exposed off the ball and so short of the intensity he brought to the team and club last year. 4 | Sunderland Echo, Chris Fryatt
7. CM - Noah Sadiki
Covered plenty of ground but didn’t offer a great deal on the ball and it was another game in which Sunderland badly lost the midfield battle. 4 | Sunderland Echo, Chris Fryatt
8. CM - Enzo Le Fee
Took him too long to get him into the game. Took his penalty well and played some good passes late on but it was too little, too late. 5 | Sunderland Echo, Chris Fryatt
