Régis Le Bris issues early Sunderland injury update ahead of Bournemouth clash

Sunderland are back in Premier League action against Bournemouth on Sunday

Régis Le Bris has confirmed that Thomas Meunier will miss Sunderland's Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Sunday.

Meunier suffered a hamstring injury during Sunderland's 2-0 defeat to Brighton last weekend and was absent as the Black Cats made it two wins from two in the Europa League against SCU Torreense in Leiria on Thursday evening.

The Black Cats are confident that the Belgian has not suffered a serious injury but Le Bris confirmed that Sunday's game will come too soon. Wilson Isidor is also a major doubt having not travelled to Portugal, though Le Bris says he has not yet been ruled out.

"Wilson got a minor injury, and we'll assess day by day, we don't know for Bournemouth. For Thomas, it's a no, definitive at the minute."

However, the Black Cats will be bolstered by the returns of Brian Brobbey and Habib Diarra who should be able to play some part in the game. They have both trained with the team this week and were named on the bench on Thursday evening. Though they didn't get any minutes in the game, they are in contention to feature on the south coast.

Le Bris said: "They're training with the squad now, so they will be ready."
