The Black Cats are coming into the game against the Rams second in the Championship after last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Watford at Vicarage Road. There had been some chat around Dan Neil’s position in the team amongst supporters after the midfielder gave away the winning penalty.

However, Le Bris opted to name the same starting XI from the Watford game with Alan Browne coming back onto the bench in the place of Harrison Jones.

Here’s how Sunderland fans reacted to Le Bris’ selection calls ahead of the Derby County game on social media:

James Bovil said: “Clearly backing Neil to right the mistake from the last game. Fine with that, just hope it doesn’t backfire.”

Rocky said: “Well done RBL At least he hasn't hung Neil out to dry like a few fans have,” while Chan added: “People acting like Neil is suddenly an incompetent footballer.”

Terry added: “Sticking by Dan Neil, love to see it.” Marcus said: “Didn’t want him to start but I really hope Neil has a good game. Ha’way the lads.”

Evan added: “Good side but the fatigue could play a big factor on Friday.” Martyn said: “Backing his captain which is right but I honestly think Browne offers more.”

SAFCBreakdown added: “That is our best eleven right now, because Browne probably isn’t fit enough. Against a team that’ll just sit back, Neil will be involved in the game more. I’ll go for Jobe to open the scoring.”
