Football Insider claim that Ben Alnwick is on the radar of the Black Cats having been released by Bolton Wanderers last week – where he played under Parkinson before his departure.

Alnwick, who came through the ranks at the Stadium of Light before departing in search of first-team football, is now available as a free agent and the report claims that Parkinson is keen to add him to Sunderland’s ranks.

Goalkeeping reinforcements may be a priority given the uncertainty over Jon McLaughlin’s long-term future, with his contract set to expire in the summer.

Meanwhile, the Sun claim that the Black Cats are also keen on a loan move for Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo.

The 19-year-old netted six times during a loan spell at Newport County last term, but is yet to get off the mark at Bristol City.

Sunderland have also been linked with a host of other players ahead of the January window, with Parkinson eyeing as many as five new additions after some poor form of late.
