Sunderland resume their Carabao Cup campaign on Wednesday evening with a tough test against Premier League rivals Brentford.
With their European campaign meaning they entered the competition one round later than usual, they are now just one game away from a quarter final. The competition nevertheless sits bottom of their priorities for the campaign ahead, particularly given their precarious position in the league table.

1. Rico Henry - out

2. Kevin Danso - available
Danso served his one-game suspension for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity at Bournemouth on Sunday and so is available for selection here. Could come straight into the XI to give Luke O'Nien a rest if Le Bris is minded to stick with the club stalwart at Coventry on Saturday. | Sunderland Echo
3. Vitaly Janelt - available
Served a one-game suspension against Hull City after picking up two yellow cards in the defeat to Liverpool a week previous. Available to return here as a result.
4. Yehor Yarmolyuk - out
The Ukrainian midfielder serves the second of a three-game suspension here after being shown a straight red in the defeat to Liverpool. | Getty
