Sunderland's new predicted final Premier League position after stunning comeback win against Bournemouth
Sunderland produced a stunning comeback to see off Premier League rivals Bournemouth at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.
Sunderland’s season continued to go from strength to strength after the Black Cats roared back from two goals down to earn all three points against Premier League rivals Bournemouth on Saturday.
Regis Le Bris and his players were aiming to bounce back from what has become a rare defeat at Fulham last weekend - but they appeared to be on their way to suffering consecutive losses for the first time this season as the Cherries seized control during the opening 45 minutes at the Stadium of Light. Amine Adli fired the visitors in front with just seven minutes on the clock before Tyler Adams doubled their lead on the quarter-hour mark with a fine finish that appeared to have put Andoni Iraola’s men on their way to all three points on Wearside.
However, as they have shown throughout the first four months of their return to the Premier League, this Sunderland side are made of stern stuff and the foundations for a stunning comeback were put in place with a well-taken penalty from Enzo Le Fee on the half-hour mark. Bertrand Traore got the Black Cats back on level-terms within two minutes of the second half and Brian Brobbey completed the turnaround when he found the net for the second consecutive home fixture.
The dramatic run ensured Sunderland returned to the top four ahead of Sunday’s fixtures - but where are they predicted to finish in the Premier League when the season comes to a close next May? We take a look at the latest predicted final Premier League table based on statistics provided by the experts at Opta.
