Sunderland are preparing for their Championship fixture against Middlesbrough – with multiple players still sidelined with injuries.
The Black Cats have won five of their last six matches and are fourth in the table following Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over Watford.
After a challenging start to the season, Boro are also in good form following three consecutive league wins.

9. Eliezer Mayenda (Sunderland) - OUT
Mayenda has also been running on the training pitches at the Academy of Light with the rest of Sunderland’s squad. Still, the striker isn't expected to return before this month's international break following a hamstring issue. Photo: National World

10. Timothee Pembele (Sunderland) - OUT

11. Dennis Cirkin (Sunderland) - OUT
After starting Sunderland's first five league games this season, Cirkin has sustained a hamstring strain. The 21-year-old is set to be sidelined until later this month. Photo: Frank Reid

12. Jay Matete (Sunderland) - OUT
Matete is expected to be sidelined until around December after suffering a knee injury in pre-season which required surgery. Photo: Chris Fryatt
