Sunderland AFC's classy gesture to the city's community soup kitchen amid the COVID-19 outbreak

Sunderland AFC and catering partners Elior have made a sizeable donation to the city’s community soup kitchen.

The Black Cats have seen a number of home fixtures and events at the Stadium of Light cancelled following the outbreak of coronavirus, leaving a surplus of food supplies.

And all perishable items have now been donated to the Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen – to ensure they help those in need during this difficult time.

Catering partners Elior helped facilitate the donation, with general manager Chris Beason hoping other clubs now follow suit.

“This is obviously a worrying time for everybody, so it’s important that we all pull together and help out our local community where we can,” said Beason.

“That’s why Elior UK have donated all perishable food stock from the Stadium of Light to the Sunderland community soup kitchen, and we hope that our small contribution can help others.”
