The Black Cats lost their opening two games 2-1 in the Championship against Ipswich Town at the Stadium of Light and Preston North End at Deepdale.
Tony Mowbray’s men also crashed out of the Carabao Cup in the first round after being beaten by Crewe Alexandra at home on penalties following a 1-1 draw on Wearside.
However, Tony Mowbray’s men bounced back against Rotherham United at the Stadium of Light with Jobe’s brace handing the Wearsiders a first win of the campaign.
After Sunderland’s stuttering start to the season, though, eyes have understandably towards transfers with sporting director Kristjaan Speakman and head of recruitment Stuart Harvey eyeing deals.
Here, we take a look at 21 deals Kristkaan Speakman could conclude and how likely they are to happen this summer:

17. Colin Dagba
Sunderland are said to have made approaches to PSG regarding right-back Colin Dagba with the player expected to leave the French giants this season. However, like other transfer targets, the speculation around Dagba appears to have gone cold and a move to Sunderland feels a long way from imminent as things stand. Photo: PATRICK HERTZOG

18. Sydney van Hooijdonk
Championship clubs Southampton and Sunderland have been linked with a deal for Bologna forward Sydney van Hooijdonk during the summer window with Sunderland in dire need of striker additions but nothing is yet close regarding the striker's move to England with the Black Cats facing major competition. 19. Jack Clarke
Although Sunderland and Jack Clarke are yet to come to an agreement over a new deal, the two parties have held talks this summer. Clarke has three years left on his present deal amid interest from Burnley and is likely to remain on Wearside unless Burnley can seriously up their offer before the transfer window closes. 20. Matthis Abline
Reports in France have linked Sunderland with Rennes player Matthis Abline. However, the Black Cats are said to be facing competition to land the striker with Middlesbrough also said to be keen amongst other clubs. Photo: ROMAIN PERROCHEAU
