The Black Cats lost their opening two games 2-1 in the Championship against Ipswich Town at the Stadium of Light and Preston North End at Deepdale.
Tony Mowbray’s men also crashed out of the Carabao Cup in the first round after being beaten by Crewe Alexandra at home on penalties following a 1-1 draw on Wearside.
However, Tony Mowbray’s men bounced back against Rotherham United at the Stadium of Light with Jobe’s brace handing the Wearsiders a first win of the campaign.
After Sunderland’s stuttering start to the season, though, eyes have understandably towards transfers with sporting director Kristjaan Speakman and head of recruitment Stuart Harvey eyeing deals.
Here, we take a look at 21 deals Kristkaan Speakman could conclude and how likely they are to happen this summer:

6. Silko Thomas
The former Chelsea youth team player has featured in two games for Sunderland's under-21 side this summer and is understood to be under consideration by the club. It does seem likely that Thomas is in with a good shot at being signed by the club given his impressive trial games. He does, though, have interest from elsewhere too. Photo: Warren Little

7. Danny Batth
Danny Batth's continued omission from Tony Mowbray's starting XI and the defender entering into the last year of his deal likely means there's a good chance he could leave if a decent offer that works for all parties comes in. Photo: Frank Reid

8. Amad Diallo
The Manchester United man has picked up an injury during the Red Devils pre-season but it remains to be seen whether or not he will remain at Old Trafford this summer. Sunderland will be one of the interested parties with communication lines between the two clubs open. Amad, however, will have serious interest from other clubs and given the injury problem it feels unlikely that Amad will return to Sunderland. Photo: George Wood
