Sunderland AFC transfer rumours: Celtic 'linked' with KEY attacker as Black Cats may miss out on £600k-rated winger
Sunderland lost to Blackpool in League One on Tuesday night at the Stadium of Light.
A stunning strike from Sullay Kaikai earned the three points for Blackpool, while goalkeeper Chris Maxwell made a couple of superb saves.
The result means that the Black Cats have not won in SEVEN third-tier games – their worst-ever record at this level and worst winless run since the Championship relegation campaign under Chris Coleman.
Can Lee Johnson stop the rot against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday? Only time will tell.
Here, though, we take you through all of the Sunderland-related latest news and talk from around the division:
Celtic monitoring the contract situation of Charlie Wyke
Celtic are monitoring the situation of 30-goal Sunderland striker Charlie Wyke.
The attacker is out of contract this summer and has been previously linked with Middlesbrough and other Championship clubs.
But former Celtic man Mark Wilson has claimed that Celtic are also in the hunt for the ex-Bradford man.
He said on the Celtic Huddle Podcast: “It’s understood that Sunderland striker Charlie Wyke is on a list of potential summer signings.
“Looking into him, he’s scored 30 goals this season in League One. He’s 28-years-old and he’s available on a free transfer.”
Alongside Middlesbrough and Celtic, Nottingham Forest, Cardiff City, Millwall are also said to be interested in a deal for the target man in the summer.
Jordan Jones to depart Rangers but might not move to Sunderland
According to Football Insider, Rangers are set to offload Jordan Jones this summer.
The website states that Rangers are looking to cash in on the winger in the upcoming window,
Gers are said to be after an even higher price than they initially expected due to Jones’ decent form and could stand to net more than the £600,000 initially reported.
A ‘recruitment source’ has reportedly stated that Steven Gerrard is keen to let Jones leave in the summer but Sunderland’s chances of signing him ‘could hinge on promotion.’
