Sunderland AFC transfer round-up: Black Cats and Hull City keen on ex-Fleetwood Town midfielder

Ex-Fleetwood Town midfielder and free agent Kyle Dempsey is a wanted man with a number of clubs linked, including Sunderland and Hull City.

The Daily Mail claim the Black Cats are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old midfielder who became a free agent this summer.

Dempsey played 30 games for Joey Barton’s side in the 2019-20 campaign, helping them reach the play-off semi-finals before they were eventually beaten by Wycombe Wanderers.

Sunderland are relatively well-stocked in midfield with Grant Leadbitter, Max Power, Josh Scowen and George Dobson all battling it out to be in the starting XI when September 12 and the start of the League One campaign gets underway.

Phil Parkinson has already stated he hopes to make at least half a dozen signings this summer. Bailey Wright is expected to be one following a successful loan spell at the Stadium of Light last season.
