An injury update on Chris Maguire

Steve Parkin is confident that Chris Maguire has not suffered a serious injury after another superb attacking display from the attacking midfielder.

Maguire played a part in all three goals as Sunderland raced into a three-nil lead that they never looked like relinquishing against Rochdale.

There was a slight concern for the Black Cats as he appeared to pull up with an injury midway through the second half.

Why hasn't Declan John featured yet?

Declan John is yet to make his Sunderland debut

Steve Parkin says Declan John will have to be patient after the Swansea City loanee again missed out on selection for the matchday squad.

Parkin insists that John is doing well behind the scenes and expects to see him get his chance in the coming weeks.

FPP Sunderland take step towards dissolving

FPP Sunderland are set to be dissolved

FPP Sunderland - the investment vehicle registered by Glenn Fuhrman, Robert Platek and John Phelan when launching takeover talks for the Black Cats - is set to be dissolved within the next three months.

That's after a First Gazette notice was issued to the company.

How did Aiden McGeady fare on his Charlton debut?

Lee Bowyer has praised Sunderland loanee Aiden McGeady – after he performed ‘very well’ on his Charlton Athletic debut.

The 33-year-old missed the Addicks’ defeat at Stoke City through illness, but returned to the bench for the trip to Nottingham Forest.

And McGeady entered the fray early in the second half, replacing Ehrun Oztumer while helping Charlton to see out a vital 1-0 win at the City Ground.

Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson

Here's what Phil Parkinson had to say...

Parkinson on the Rochdale win

"I'm delighted to the get the result. In the first half we were excellent. Back-to-back home wins is a big confidence boost for us."

Parkinson on Oxford United

"We always strive to go for the win. Oxford are a good team and they've had a decent cup run, losing to Newcastle. They've got some good young players, but injury problems and suspension problems."

Parkinson on Oxford v Newcastke

"That game summed Oxford up. They've got some very good footballers but at times they look vulnerable defensively."

Parkinson on injuries

"Maguire came off with a dead leg and there was no need to risk him. He feels a lot better this morning, but we'll assess him."

BREAKING: Simon Grayson sacked by Blackpool

Ex-Sunderland boss Simon Grayson has been sacked by Blackpool

Former Sunderland boss Simon Grayson has been dismissed by League One rivals Blackpool.

The Seasiders have won just one of their last 12 in all competitions and have slipped further away from play-off contention, forcing owner Simon Sadler to act.

And Grayson, who returned to Bloomfield Road in the summer, has now been dismissed.
