It is now 10 league games without defeat for Lee Johnson’s side as the Wearsiders enter crunch time in the third teir.

Sunderland have 10 games left to play in League One and automatic promotion is in their own hands.

The Black Cats are within striking distance of Peterborough United, who they play in a huge clash on Easter Monday.

As well as being just two points behind second-placed Posh, the Wearside club are also just three points away from league leaders Hull City with two games in hand.

Indeed, Sunderland are unbeaten in their last 12 games in all competitions and have lost just once in 18 ahead of Oxford’s visit.
