Sunderland-linked striker Guy Melamed is likely to make a decision over his future in the ‘next few weeks’ – according to his representatives.

The Israeli striker has enjoyed a fine season at St Johnstone and has reportedly attracted interest from a host of League One clubs, including Portsmouth and Ipswich Town.

Melamed recently said he was ‘flattered’ by the interest being shown in him, but has not ruled-out remaining with the Scottish side.

But High Press Sports Management – the firm who represent Melamed – have now offered a teasing glimpse into the plans of the striker, suggesting a decision over his future will be made imminently.

Grant Leadbitter has sent a message to Sunderland fans

Grant Leadbitter has delivered a heartfelt message to Sunderland supporters following his departure from the club.

The 35-year-old was one of seven players released by the Black Cats earlier this week following their play-off semi-final defeat to Lincoln City, bringing to an end the midfielder’s second stay at the club.

Having initially progressed through the club’s academy, Leadbitter made over 120 senior appearances on Wearside before taking in spells at Ipswich Town and Middlesbrough.

He returned to the Stadium of Light in 2019 and appeared a further 80 times for the club, while delivering some memorable moments along the way.

And Leadbitter has now delivered an emotional message of thanks to the club’s fanbase – while also apologising for being unable to guide the club out of the third tier.

Karl Robinson plays down Chris Maguire rumours

Having been released by Sunderland last week, there was some speculation that Chris Maguire could return to Oxford United.

But Karl Robinson has seemingly played down talk of a return for the forward, as he said:

I didn’t even know he was available, that’s not one that’s come to me.

We have a number of different options that we’re looking at.

Sunderland have been linked with a TRIPLE swoop

The Black Cats are known to be in the market for a host of new faces this summer, and could be lining-up a triple swoop.

Lee Johnson is seeking reinforcements in the heart of midfield and at full-back, and has been linked with players in these areas.

Ross McCrorie and Paul Digby are reportedly targets in midfield - although Charlton are reportedly leading the race for the latter of the two.

And at full-back, QPR’s Todd Kane is thought to be on Sunderland’s radar. A host of other League One clubs are also keen on the ex-Chelsea man.

James Vaughan has called time on his career

Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has given his backing to Lee Johnson – and the duo will now turn their attentions to the transfer market.

We take a look at 11 of the names already linked with moves to Wearside who could be top of Johnson’s wanted list ahead of the club’s fourth season in League One.
