Lee Johnson’s side will face League Two outfit Tranmere Rovers at Wembley, with Keith Hill’s men also in good form following a 2-0 win at Southend in mid-week.

The Black Cats will be hoping for some fitness boosts ahead of the match, after having to deal with several injury setbacks in recent weeks.

Defender Tom Flanagan returned ahead of schedule and came off the bench against Pompey, while Bailey Wright, Ross Stewart, Denver Hume, Grant Leadbitter and Benji Kimpioka all trained on Wednesday.

Off the pitch, new Black Cats owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus is set to meet with supporters on a video meeting via Zoom later this month to discuss some key aspects at the club.
