The Black Cats sit fifth in the League One table following a dramatic draw at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

Lee Johnson’s side trailed 2-0 with 15-minutes to play only for Jordan Jones and Chris Maguire to rescue a point at the death with two fine goals.

It’s a quick turnaround though as Sunderland prepare to host a Swindon Town side currently hovering just above the relegation places in the third tier.

  • The Black Cats will be looking to build on their dramatic draw at Crewe on Saturday.

Swindon make an emergency loan signing ahead of tonight’s match

Swindon Town have completed the emergency loan signing of Connal Trueman from Birmingham City.

The 24-year-old has joined on a week-long deal will wear the number one shirt and is expected to start at the Stadium of Light this evening.

The League One side have had to dip into the emergency loan market once again after a knee injury to previous emergency loanee Joe Wollacott.

Who can step up in Grant Leadbitter’s absence?

The midfielder suffered a dislocated shoulder at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday afternoon.

The influential midfielder had been on the pitch a matter of minutes when he was forced to come off after suffering the injury in an off-the-ball incident.

Johnson revealed after the game that he had first suffered the injury during the 1-0 win over Ipswich Town in late January.

Jordan Jones outlines his aims

Jordan Jones is targeting further minutes at Sunderland after his goalscoring cameo at Crewe Alexandra – but admits he can’t complain at his lack of game time thus far.

Who gets the nod tonight? Our SAFC writers Phil Smith and Mark Donnelly have had their say...

After Saturday’s dramatic draw at Crewe Alexandra, there are no shortage of selection dilemmas ahead of the visit of Swindon Town on Tuesday evening.

The trip to Gresty Road was a classic example of a game where a number of players played themselves into contention, while others perhaps played themselves out of contention after a dire first half showing.

So with Johnson weighing-up changes across the board, what would our writers opt for?
