Crewe boss David Artell has revealed they are yet to receive any bids for any of their players – and says a move to another League One club for Sunderland-linked Owen Dale would be a ‘sideways move’.

The 22-year-old forward is in demand this summer with a number of clubs already linked with him this summer including the Black Cats and Wycombe Wanderers, amid weekend reports they had made the first move with a ‘low offer’.

Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers have also been linked.

However, Crewe boss Artell has confirmed the club have not received any bids for their players, so far, this summer.

Liverpool have shared an emotional video commemorating Jordan Henderson’s decade-long stint at Anfield.

The midfielder rose through the youth ranks at his boyhood club Sunderland before moving to Liverpool for £20million in the summer of 2011.

Since then, the England international has won the League Cup, Champions League, European Super Cup, Club World Cup, and Premier League during a glittering 10 years in Merseyside.

To celebrate their captain’s milestone, Liverpool released a video of Henderson’s father Brian, who pays tribute to his son and speaks of his early days at Sunderland.

Sunderland striker Benji Kimpioka has been speaking about his future plans and the early impacts of both Lee Johnson and Kyril Louis-Dreyfus.

The forward told fotbollskanalen: “The new coach has given me a lot of confidence.

“I like him and the new owner, so I look forward to my time there.

“I think I will stay in Sunderland, I feel very comfortable with the coach there.

“I still have goals that I set for myself and have not yet achieved. I really have to fight for these goals and then feel ready for the next step.”

Sunderland and their League One rivals are set to ramp-up their transfer plans – after the EFL trading period officially opened this morning.

While clubs have been able to agree deals in principle up to this point, transfers between clubs can now be given the green light. This includes both permanent deals and loan transfers.

In the case of free agents, released players and those who have turned down renewal offers from their current clubs, deals generally do not gain official approval until the end of June – when the vast majority of player contracts expire.

Sunderland are set for a busy summer in the market with the club’s transfer team looking to replace the seven players who have been released following the club’s play-off semi-final defeat.

Blackpool have announced the signing of former left-back Reece James on an initial three-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.

The Black Cats signed the defender in 2018-19 before selling him to Doncaster a season later.

But James will now join the newly-promoted Championship side Blackpool upon the expiry of his contract at Doncaster on July 1 after their win against Lincoln City at Wembley.

The 27-year-old becomes Neil Critchley’s first signing of the summer ahead of the 2021-22 campaign with the Seasiders also reportedly interested in Elliot Embleton following his recent successful loan stint.

Speaking to Blackpool’s official website, James said: “As I knew there was a bit of interest, it was something that I really wanted to follow up and jump at.

“Playing in the Championship was something that I’d set out to do following what had happened in the season, so it was a massive pull to come here.”

Aiden McGeady has been nominated for a fan award.

The Sunderland attacker has been nominated for the FLW Fans’ Player of the Month Awards in League One.

The former Republic of Ireland international has will face Lincoln City goalkeeper Alex Palmer.

McGeady will also come up against former Sunderland midfielder George Honeyman of Hull City and Peterborough United attacker Jonson Clarke-Harris.

Jerry Yates of Blackpool is the fifth player nominated for the award.

North East rivals linked with Sunderland defender

Middlesbrough are ‘keeping tabs’ on Sunderland defender Denver Hume.

That’s according to Football League World.

The Teessiders have also been linked to several Black Cats as Neil Warnock looks to rebuild

Like Hume, Charlie Wyke and Luke O’Nien are both weighing up contract extensions at the Stadium of Light with their current deals set to expire this summer.

Middlesbrough have been linked with both, plus goalkeeper Lee Burge and former loanee Jordan Jones, who has now returned to Scotland but is expected to depart again this summer.

But it is now claimed that Hume, 26, is also a target for Middlesbrough, who will be aiming for a good season in the Championship next campaign.

League One rivals confirm managerial appointment 

Morecambe have announced the appointment of Stephen Robinson as manager.

The club confirmed that the 46-year-old has replaced Derek Adams at the League One newcomers after Adams left to take over at Bradford in League Two.

Robinson last managed Scottish Premiership side Motherwell before leaving last December having spent spending three-and-a-half years in charge at Fir Park.

Speaking to the Morecambe website, Robinson said: “I have been very impressed with the club and everyone involved in the process.

“We are looking to build on last season’s successful promotion campaign and look to firmly establish the club in League One.

“There is a lot of work in terms of recruitment in the coming weeks and getting us prepared for the club’s first season in League One.”
