Sunderland made it back-to-back Championship wins after a 4-1 win at Wigan.

Tony Mowbray’s side took an early lead when Ellis Simms headed them ahead in the 19th minute, yet Latics striker Will Keane equalised three minutes before half-time.

Ross Stewart then came off the bench to restore the visitors’ lead, converting a penalty after Patrick Roberts was fouled in the box.

Roberts then scored his third goal of the season to secure the victory, before a stunning strike from Amad made it four.

Here’s how the game played out:

What to make of that side

So it’s five changes from the side which started against Blackburn on Boxing Day.

Trai Hume and Bailey Wright replace the injured Lynden Gooch and Dennis Cirkin in defence. That may  mean Luke O’Nien moves to left-back.

Ellis Simms replaces Ross Stewart up front after the former’s winning goal against Blackburn.

Edouard Michut is handed his first Black Cats start while Abdoullah Ba also starts in midfield.

There is no Corry Evans in the squad but Alex Pritchard is back on the bench.

There are three former Sunderland players in Wigan’s starting XI, including Max Power, James McClean and Ashley Fletcher.

Nathan Broadhead is on the bench.

2’ How Sunderland have started

4’ Early chance for Sunderland

A good run from Ba on the left saw the midfielder advance into the area before crossing for Hume at the far post.

The full-back’s header was saved by Jones and went behind for a corner which Wigan managed to clear.

Wigan already have defensive problems and could face another one here.

Hughes is down after a heavy tackle from Ba in the Wigan box.

Hughes is back on his feet now and the game has resumed.

11’ McClean booked

That’s the first booking of the match as McClean is shown a yellow card for a late challenge on Michut inside the Sunderland half.

16’ Wigan making a change

Hughes has gone down again for Wigan and won’t be able to continue.

Ryan Nyambe is coming on.
