Despite some early pressure, the Black Cats took the lead when Edouard Michut scored his first goal for the club with 30 minutes played.

The hosts equalised on the stroke of half-time, though, when Manchester City loanee James McAtee found space in the box and converted with a low finish.

Another City loanee then scored the winner as Tommy Doyle’s free-kick went straight in just after the hour mark.

Here’s how the game played out:

30’ GOOOAAALLLL!!! MICHUT!!!

His first Sunderland goal!

The Frenchman was actually in the right place after being tackled in the Sheffield United half, before the ball was sent long by the visitors and Batth beat Jebbison in the air.

Neil picked up the loose ball before passing to Ba, who then set up Michut inside the Sheffield United box.

The midfielder then beat Foderingham with a low strike across goal.

1-0!

35’ Another booking

Now Doyle has been booked for catching Clarke.

It’s the visitors’ third booking.

40’ Patterson holds

The game has just died down a bit in the last few minutes.

Doyle’s in-swinging free-kick took a deflection before Patterson collected the cross.

45+1’ Goal Sheffield United (McAtee)

Right before half-time.

Roberts conceded possession before the ball broke to McAtee inside the Sunderland box.

The midfielder then curled the ball past Patterson into the far corner with a low effort.
