How Huddersfield will start

What to make of those sides

So it’s two changes for Sunderland from the side which beat Birmingham 2-1 on Saturday.

Joe Gelhardt and Luke O’Nien return to the starting XI in place of the suspended Dennis Cirkin and Edouard Michut, who misses out with a minor injury.

It looks like Alex Pritchard will drop back into midfield alongside Dan Neil, with Gelhardt set to lead the line.

Teenage winger Tom Watson, 16, and Ellis Taylor, 20, are named on the Sunderland bench.

Huddersfield have made two changes following their 1-0 defeat at Swansea last time out, with Josh Ruffels and Josh Koroma returning to the side in place of Jonathan Hogg and Rarmani Edmonds-Green.

Hogg isn’t named in the squad.

3’ How Sunderland have started

That was the first half chance of the match after Clarke tried to cut in from the left and saw his shot blocked by Lees.

Pritchard then volleyed the rebound over the bar.

11’ Huddersfield posing a threat

Sunderland have shaded possession so far, yet Huddersfield have also strung a few passes together and posed a threat on the break.

Koroma was able to win a corner for the visitors there, with Gooch blocking the winger’s shot.

Batth headed the set-piece away.

Neil is shown the first booking of the match after a tackle on Diarra just inside the Sunderland half.

Sunderland managed to clear the following free-kick into their box.
