The latter’s side-footed went wide.

It’s been a bright start from Sunderland and they could have taken the lead there.

An excellent pass from O’Nien to the left picked out Clarke who took on Storey and sent a low cross into the box.

Woodman parried the ball away.

3’ How Sunderland have started

What to make of that side

So it’s an unchanged Sunderland side to the one which started at Watford last time out.

The only change on the bench sees Bailey Wright return to the squad in place of Trai Hume.

There’s still no place in the matchday 18 for Edouard Michut.

Preston have made four changes following their 2-0 defeat against Sheffield United last time out, with striker Troy Parrott dropping to the bench.

Greg Cunningham, Robbie Brady, Ryan Ledson and Ched Evans are the players who have come into the starting XI.
