and live on Freeview channel 276
Tony Mowbray’s side were fortunate to still be level at half-time after Anthony Patterson saved Joe Ralls’ penalty.
Cardiff took the lead four minutes after the restart, though, as Mark Harris converted Mahlon Romeo’s low cross.
The hosts did apply some late pressure but couldn’t force an equaliser.
Here’s how the game played out:

What to make of that side
So it’s FOUR changes from the side which started at Huddersfield on Wednesday.
Abdoullah Ba is set to make his first Black Cats start, while Ellis Simms returns to the starting XI for the first time since September.
Dan Neil and Jack Clarke are also recalled, with Corry Evans, Alex Pritchard and Elliot Embleton dropping to the bench.
Leon Dajaku isn’t named in the squad.
It looked like Amad will play in the No 10 position with Clarke on the left and Patrick Roberts on the right.
Cardiff make one change following their 2-1 defeat against Watford last time out, with Sheyi Ojo replacing Andy Rinomhota.
5’ Big chance for Cardiff
Sunderland had made a bright start as Clarke cut in from the left and saw a deflected shot go behind for a corner.
The hosts played it short and allowed Cardiff to break as Harris set up Ojo in the Black Cats’ box.
Thankfully for Sunderland the Cardiff player failed to hit the target.
9’ O’Nien shot blocked
It’s been a pretty open game so far.
O’Nien managed to get forward from right-back there and was set up by Roberts in the box before Kipre blocked the shot.
12’ Penalty to Cardiff
Cardiff have seen more of the ball so far and have now been awarded a penalty!
Wright’s backpass was short and Batth brought down Philogene.
Cardiff have a spot kick.
