Sunderland were beaten 1-0 by Bristol City at Ashton Gate – but how did each player fare for the Black Cats?
Interim boss Mike Dodds took charge of a third successive fixture, as Tommy Conway’s 20th-minute penalty decided the contest.
Sunderland conceded the spot kick after goalkeeper Anthony Patterson brought down Taylor Gardner-Hickman in the box.
Here’s how Phil Smith rated the Sunderland players at Ashton Gate:

9. Abdoullah Ba - 4
Started out on the left but struggled to make an impact. Got into one good position in the second half but fired straight at the keeper with team-mates breaking towards the six-yard box. Couldn’t really take his latest chance to impress. 4 Photo: Frank Reid

10. Jack Clarke - 5
Had some dangerous moments as he broke into the final third but not at his most threatening throughout. Initial decision to play him through the middle didn’t work. 5 Photo: Frank Reid

11. Alex Pritchard - 6
Almost caught the goalkeeper out with a couple of audacious set pieces, one of which hit the bar. Worked hard but Sunderland struggled to create chances, set plays aside. 6 Photo: Frank Reid

12. Jobe Bellingham (sub) - 6
Drew an excellent save from a corner when he rose to head the ball, and showed some nice touches. 6 Photo: Frank Reid
