'So impressive': Phil Smith's Sunderland player rating photos after Blackburn win - including one 9 & two 8s
Despite a bright start, Tony Mowbray’s side fell a goal behind in the 18th minute when Ross Stewart scored an unfortunate own goal.
The striker responded immediately though, winning a penalty before converting from the spot four minutes later.
Substitute Ellis Simms then converted the winning goal in stoppage-time.

9. Amad - 8
Superb for the opening hour, causing Blackburn all sorts of problems. Really impressive work-rate, too. Faded a bit late on but proved emphatically he can play the role. 8 Photo: Frank Reid

10. Jack Clarke - 6
Can frustrate at times but no doubting how difficult he is to defend against and in the end he absolutely should have had at least one assist. 6 Photo: Martin Swinney

11. Ross Stewart - 7
Tired a little late on but linked the play well throughout and took his penalty superbly. Unlucky with his own goal in the first half. Makes a big difference. 7 Photo: Frank Reid

12. Trai Hume (sub) - 7
Nearly scored and did well in an unfamiliar role on the left of defence. Does well whenever he gets a chance. 7 Photo: Frank Reid
