Darius Charles’ first-half strike was enough for the Chairboys as they picked up another three points, while consigning the Black Cats to a third defeat of the season. But how did individuals fare in Parkinson’s first game in charge? Scroll down and click through the pages to see how our chief Sunderland AFC writer, Phil Smith, rated the individual displays on show at Adams Park:
9. Duncan Watmore
Started brightly and was as big a threat as anyone in a poor first half showing, getting his side in a couple of good positions in right-wing role. Understandably taken off early on what was his first league start of the season. 5 Photo: Frank Reid
10. Aiden McGeady
Almost drew an unlikely equaliser with a stunning effort from distance in stoppage time. Sunderland, though, never found him any kind of dangerous area and he cut a frustrated figure for the most part. 5 Photo: FRANK REID
11. Charlie Wyke
Started brightly and was clearly central to Phil Parkinson’s plans. Became increasingly isolated and was replaced by Will Grigg at the break after picking up a number of knocks through the half. 5 Photo: FRANK REID
12. Will Grigg
Improved his side considerably, getting into intelligent positions, holding the ball up and bringing others into play. Faded from that bright start and a peripheral figure towards the end. 6 Photo: FRANK REID
