'Real quality': How Sunderland youngster Bali Mumba fared on his South Shields debut

The teenager joined Shields on a loan deal until the end of the season earlier this week, and took a place on the bench for the Mariners’ trip to Bamber Bridge.

And having come on for the final ten minutes of the 2-1 triumph, Mumba impressed as he took up a role on the left flank – providing a series of fine deliveries while also coming close to a late goal himself.

And Fenton was left impressed by the ‘real quality’ shown by the Sunderland youngster.

“It was fantastic,” said Fenton.

“Bali has got real quality and he was another substitute who came on and made a real impact.

“We're looking forward to getting some more minutes into him in the next few weeks.”
