Sunderland were beaten 1-0 by Watford at Vicarage Road – but how did each player fare for the Black Cats?
After a goalless first half, Watford substitute Ryan Andrews scored the game’s only goal in the 64th minute. Sunderland boss Mike Dodds then made multiple changes, yet his side weren’t able to force an equaliser.
Here’s how Phil Smith rated the Sunderland players at Vicarage Road:

9. Chris Rigg - 5
Had a big chance to get his side ahead late in the first half and though a goal kick was given as his effort missed at the near post, it did look as if Bachmann had saved well. Didn’t get on the ball as much as he would have liked in another disappointing Sunderland attacking performance. 5 Photo: Frank Reid

10. Jack Clarke - 5
Couldn’t really get into the game in the first half, as has been a bit of a theme since Sunderland moved to a back five. Much more like his old self in the second half but missed some big chances to score where he ought to have done better. 5 Photo: Frank Reid

11. Adil Aouchiche - 5
Had one or two bright moments, including his near assist for Rigg in the first half. Otherwise pretty isolated as he played up front alone, a role that doesn’t really suit him. Looked very frustrated when brought off after Watford’s goal. 5 Photo: Frank Reid

12. Patrick Roberts (sub) - 5
Found Ba with one nice pass but otherwise quiet and couldn’t get a shot away late for what was a decent chance inside the box. 5 Photo: Frank Reid
