The Black Cats will take on Karl Robinson’s side on Saturday, December 4 after both sides were eliminated from the first round of the FA Cup, freeing up a weekend in the scheduling.
It means that four of Sunderland’s next six league fixtures will take place at the Stadium of Light as Lee Johnson’s side look to improve their form and climb back up the League One table.
The Black Cats host Ipswich Town this weekend having gone over two weeks without a league fixture due to cup commitments and the international break.
The break in fixtures has seen the Wearsiders drop out of the play-off places with Johnson under increasing pressure to put an end to a poor run of form which has seen the Black Cats lose each of their last three league games.
But ahead of Saturday’s meeting with the Tractor Boys we look at what’s been happening around League One.

Sean Roughlan could be heading for the exit at Sincil Bank as Lincoln City are said to be considering loaning the young defender out in January. AFC Wimbledon are facing an injury crisis ahead of their match with Portsmouth this weekend. Mark Robinson could be without up to seven players for their trip to Fratton Park with Cheye Alexander, Alex Woodyard, Anthony Hartigan, Ben Heneghan, Henry Lawrence, Will Nightingale and George Marsh all reported as doubtful by London News Online. International trio Dan Csoka, Dapo Mebude and Aaron Pressley should all be available for Robinson. (Photo by Alex Davidson/Getty Images) Photo: Alex Davidson
Sheffield Wednesday striker Lee Gregory is set to miss the Owls trip to Accrington Stanley on Saturday with a calf injury that kept him sidelined during the clubs FA Cup first round replay loss at Plymouth Argyle. Gillingham manager Steve Evans has been linked with the vacant Stevenage Town job following the departure of Alex Revell. Football writer Henry Winter posted the League Two side had requested permission to speak with Evans to which the Gills boss told Kent Online: “I have just been made aware of it by our media department and that is something that the chairman and the club have to speak about, not for me, I will speak to the chairman about it as you would expect. I don’t know if there has been an approach. I know Stevenage as a club, I know the personnel, but that is for Paul Scally and Gillingham Football Club to speak of.” (Photo by George Wood/Getty Images) Photo: George Wood
